Our Solution:

ALG Western Oil uses bioreactors to mass produce rapidly growing algae which can then be converted into vegetable oil .Vegetable oil replaces conventional fossil fuels as it can be used in any fossil fuel-driven diesel engine. After the vegetable oil is extracted from the bio mass the oilcake, which is very high in protein, can be utilized in the pharmaceutical industry and is also excellent feedstock for the animal feed industry, and the production of ethanol / methanol.

Why Algae?

  • Algae is the fastest growing plant on the planet and it sequesters greater amounts of carbon dioxide than any other plant.
  • Algae produces large quantities of lipids (vegetable oil), up to 50% of the algae’s net weight is attributable to vegetable oil.
  • Algae strains can be selected on the merits of their carbon chains- different strands of algae are appropriate for different fuel purposes.

How the Algae Process Works

Algae strains are put into a closed circuit photo bio reactor and therefore these strains can be kept under a controlled environment and is also being kept hygienically. Carbon dioxide is emitted into the algae environment and the water with the growing bio mass are then re-circulated through the reactor and tank to ensure it gets the maximum exposure to ultraviolet rays needed for photosynthesis. These strains double their mass every 24 hours. It's then harvested, dried and pressed to release the oil.  On just one acre, this process can produce 120 000 liters oil per year, it will also produce 120 000 Kg of protein, 120 000 cubic meter of oxygen and sequestrated 216 000 cubic meter of carbon dioxide.
